Portulaca, Color Blend

$4.00

Portulaca (Moss Rose) Color Blend is a low-growing annual succulent bursting with rose-like blooms in a vibrant mix of red, orange, yellow, pink, and white. It thrives in hot, dry conditions and poor soils, making it one of the very best choices for Austin’s hottest, driest spots – from sunny rock gardens and containers to hanging baskets and challenging slope plantings.

At Flying Rabbit Farm, our Portulaca Color Blend transplants are grown for strong root systems and maximum heat and drought performance.

Care Instructions
Watering
Very low water needs Extremely drought-tolerant; one of the most xeric annuals available Overwatering causes root rot and death
Fertilizing
Minimal fertilizing needed One light application of balanced organic fertilizer at planting Rich soils reduce bloom production

Common Issues
Root rot and crown rot from overwatering or poor drainage Aphids Whitefly in humid conditions
Ideal for Austin’s hottest, driest microclimates – south-facing beds, rocky slopes, and containers Do not mulch heavily; plants prefer exposed, well-drained soil Do not overwater; thrives on neglect during summer Self-seeds in warm soils; may naturalize in suitable spots
