Beginner Vegetable Gardening Workshop

August 8 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
$30.00

Never grown a tomato in your life? Perfect — this workshop is for you. Central Texas gardening doesn’t follow the rules you’ll find in most books or YouTube videos — we’ve got heavy clay soil, brutal summer heat, and a fall planting season that’s actually easier and more forgiving than spring.

We’ll kick off with a one-hour presentation covering what to plant right now (think broccoli, kale, carrots, and greens), how to work with our clay soil instead of against it, and the watering and mulching habits that actually work in an Austin summer.

Then we’ll head outside for two hours of hands-on learning — building up soil in a raised bed, planting seeds and transplants, and laying down drip irrigation, so you leave knowing exactly how it’s done, not just how it’s supposed to be done.

You’ll take home:

  • A planting calendar
  • A soil & fertilizer guide
  • A free transplant for your own garden

What to bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Bug spray
  • Paper and pen
  • Folding chair
  • Gloves.

No experience needed — just come ready to get your hands in the dirt.
