Lemongrass

$4.00

Mature Plant Size: 2-4’x2-4′

Lemongrass is a tall, clumping tropical grass with a bright, citrusy aroma essential to Thai and Southeast Asian cooking. Fast-growing through Austin’s hot summer, it forms dense, fountain-like clumps of fragrant blades.

At Flying Rabbit Farm, our Lemongrass transplants are grown for vigorous clump formation and strong citrus aroma suited to Austin’s long summer.

Care Instructions
Watering

Moderate to high water needs during active summer growth
Reduce watering as growth slows in fall

Fertilizing

Feed monthly with balanced organic fertilizer during summer growth

Pruning & Maintenance

Harvest outer stalks at the base as needed
Divide congested clumps in spring

Common Issues

Generally pest-free
Not reliably cold-hardy in Austin winters; treat as an annual or dig and overwinter indoors

Loves Austin’s summer heat and grows quickly into a large, dense clump
Not reliably winter-hardy here; a hard freeze will kill it to the ground and often outright, so many gardeners treat it as an annual or bring a potted division indoors
