Scarlet Sage (Salvia coccinea), also called Texas Sage or Tropical Sage, is a Texas native perennial that produces spikes of bright scarlet-red, tubular flowers almost year-round in Austin’s mild climate, from late winter into fall. It tolerates shade better than most sages, and is a reliable hummingbird and butterfly plant for tough spots such as under live oaks.
Our Scarlet Sage transplants are grown for strong branching and a long bloom season suited to Austin’s shady and partly shady gardens.
