Giant Jewel Portulaca (Moss Rose) is a vibrant mix of large double blooms in jewel-bright shades of red, orange, yellow, pink, rose, and white — producing a mosaic of color across spreading succulent foliage. The Giant Jewel series offers larger individual blooms than standard portulaca varieties.

Very low water needs once established
Extremely drought-tolerant; one of the most xeric annuals available
Overwatering causes root rot and death
Allow soil to dry completely between waterings
Minimal fertilizing; one light application at planting
Rich soils and excess fertility reduce bloom production
Self-cleaning; spent blooms drop naturally

Ingestion of Portulaca (moss rose) can cause vomiting, diarrhea, muscle weakness, and tremors.
Portulaca purslane (P. oleracea) has different toxicity profile than ornamental P. grandiflora.
